Please attend our next Tulsa Developers .NET meeting on Tuesday May 26th, 2009!

Speaker: Keith Nicholson
As a Microsoft Certified Trainer, Keith Nicholson travels the U.S. and Europe sharing his passion of programming in .NET products, SQL Server, and SharePoint with anyone he can, including those seated next to him on planes.

Keith caught the programming bug in 1980 when he first had access to the classic TRS-80 Model 1. Keith spent 6 years in technical sales with IBM and AT&T in data networking before returning to his passion of developing software. Prior to becoming a full-time trainer, Keith architected and created some award-winning applications using .NET and SQL Server. He was awarded Microsoft’s Most Valuable Professional for four years in C# before turning his attention to SQL Server exclusively with Scalability Experts. Being a believer of community, Keith has been an active leader in his local developers’ user group as president for four years, and volunteering with INETA to help other regional user groups.

When not programming or reading about technology, Keith enjoys laughing with his wife, tossing baseballs with his two sons, listening to a variety of music and fantasizing about owning every Star Wars action figure and Superman comic ever created.

Be CLeaR on SQL (SQLCLR)

For multiple versions of SQL Server, applications and database administrators turned to developers to write COM objects within SQL Server to provide specific procedural activity that was not easy with T-SQL. This took the specialized knowledge of C++ and lots of security. Many DBA’s learned, with good reason, to avoid this development option when available developers were not experts in COM.

Since SQL Server 2005, being able to create unique procedures within the protection of the .NET Framework has become reality. SQLCLR allows .NET developers to create procedures, triggers, types, and aggregates. This presentation will introduce the mechanisms of SQLCLR, why they should be used, and what SQL Server 2008 brings in additional functionality.

We will also have a 20 minute lightening round presentation by Eric Gesinski on Search Engine Optimization with SharePoint!

The popularity of SharePoint is increasing by leaps and bounds. SharePoint is no longer thought of as a fancy file share buy a viable Web Content Management Platform. As such, public facing SharePoint sites must rank well within popular search engines such as Google. This presentation explores some concepts and strategies for making SharePoint sites more attractive to SharePoint Sites.

Eric Gesinski began his information technology education by learning how to program in Basic at age 8. His first job was doing programming for a technical programming services company, at age 16. He progressed from there by earning a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Tulsa.

Eric has over 10 years of IT experience. While doing IT work as a full-time job, Eric began studying internet marketing, making money online using SEO skills as well as his pay per click expertise.

Eric now runs Tulsa Marketing Online, a Tulsa-based internet business, helping local companies take their offline businesses online and moving them upward with SEO, PPC, and other internet marketing strategies.
